Happy News from Cedric

We received this update from Cedric. Thank you to Melissa Moose for giving Cedric his best possible life!!! MANY thanks as well to all our volunteers and donors who make it possible to help Haida Gwaii animals in need! Now over to Cedric!

Woof’s up? I’m a furry, four-legged friend and client of the Gwaii Animal Helpline Society (GAHS). Back in November, I found myself needing a little relocation. Luckily, the fantastic folks at GAHS not only fostered me like part of their family, they found me a new hooman and furever home!

I can’t believe how pawsome life is now. Every day is an adventure! I start my mornings with cuddles and snuggles, and have a whole bed to myself when someone goes to something called “work”. The only thing I’m aggressive with is chewing, and I have lots of neat toys designed for that. Some toys have deliciousness inside, but it’s not easy to get it. Tricky! The hoomans also hide treats around, which is a fun game for my brain!

Island life looks like zoomies around the beach, but I never chase birds because I’m a good boy. I love sniffing all the salty smells, checking out tide pools, and running away from the waves. Sometimes we go for long walks on one of the many trails around us where I meet all kinds of new pups and people. I bring lots of water with me, because all the stuff around here is too salty, I even have a fancy folding bowl that came from my favourite store.

I was on a diet when I came to live with my person, but now I’m a lean, mean cuddling machine. My favourite hooman takes me on easy, epic hikes through the coast hugging trails, where I leap over logs and march around in the moss. I love all the smells outside, from the seaweed to the deer pee. By the end of my day, I’m all tuckered out, with the biggest smile on my face.

I’m a notorious foodie, and my taste buds are living their best life. Because of something called a “salad” I get to have tomato, cucumber or avocado. Yum! Sometimes I get salmon (straight from the sea, lucky me), I even tried mussels, and I liked them! I’ve had pumpkin (when I had the runs), blueberries, and some apple, but my hooman takes the skin off for me. I even get mango sometimes because she says she’s “tropical”. My regular food isn’t boring either! I get the best natural food from the best store, Ranch Feeds! That’s also where all my favourite toys, accessories, and treats come from!! They have a whole bunch of helpful healthcare products for pups like me too: ear sprays, paw salves, dentibones and much more.

I’m so happy that I don’t even mind sharing my toys and treats with my best Buddy. We take turns chewing antlers from animals that are much bigger than us, till they’re soft and we get to the good stuff. We even have matching jackets & coats that we don’t really need, but look super cute in! There are so many wonderful people and pups in my life it makes me wiggle!

A huge tail-wagging thank you to everyone at GAHS for all their hard work, from fostering me, introducing me to my new favourite hooman, to helping with things I need in the future. You found me a safe, loving furever home where I’m cherished every day. I didn’t just get help, I got the best life a doggo could dream of! It’s the pawfect match and I’m furever grateful to everyone!

If you’re thinking about adopting, volunteering, or donating to this organization, please do. There are more animals like me waiting for their happy ending, or needing a little help, and the GAHS makes that happen every day!
